this thing called motherhood.

a long while ago, i told you about this.

well, i finally made mine.
it took me so much longer than i had wanted.
but i needed it to be just right.

just like when i'm taking pictures and
i don't look through my viewfinder.
what is my focus?
what am i striving to accomplish?
i must know before i put the camera up to my eye.

creating a mission statement is about
becoming the
wife,

mother and

woman
that you want to be.

Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly;
I do not fight like a man beating the air.
No, I beat my body and make it my slave
so that after I have preached to others,
I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
1 Corinthians 9:26-27

while creating my mission statement, (using Kat's awesome step-by-step instructions), i was surprised because during the dream section, having the perfect house, having the laundry always done and keeping everything in life in order didn't even come close to making my list. i know deep down in my heart that those things are not what life's all about. yet, why do i let those things distract me from truly living life? why so often do i let those things come first and not the things that are so very important to me?

because i didn't have a proper focus.
that's why.
until now.

i encourage you to make your mission statement.
right now.

we read this prayer from Mother Teresa at church
a while back and it is now posted on my wall.
may i put these words into actions and live by them.

Dear Jesus,
Help us to spread your fragrance
everywhere we go.
Flood our souls with your spirit and life.
Penetrate and possess our whole being so utterly
that our lives may only be a radiance of yours.
Shine through us and be so in us
that every soul we come in contact with
may feel your presence in our soul.
Let them look up and see no longer us, but only Jesus.
Stay with us and then we shall begin to shine as you shine,
so to shine as to be light others.
The light, O Jesus, will be all from you.
None of it will be ours.
It will be you shining on others through us.
Let us thus praise you in the way you love best
by shining on those around us.
Let us preach you without preaching,
not by words, but by our example;
by the catching force -
the sympathetic influence of what we do,
the evident fullness of love our hearts bear to you.
Amen.

For we are to God the aroma of Christ
among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.
2 Corinthians 2:15
