while listening to this Johnny Cash song:
hey get rhythm when you get the blues
c'mon get rhythm when you get the blues
get a rock and roll feelin' in your bones
get taps on your toes and get gone
get rhythm when you get the blues
D said, "mom, this rock song is about when you get the flu."
well, flu does rhyme with blues, so i'll give him that.
oh, isn't life just so grand?
i've been wearing L in the ergo a lot lately (where this shot was taken) because even though it mimics the pregnant belly, somehow i am able to get a lot more done.
if you look really closely, you can see a long string of drool coming off of D's face. i guess he approved of his lunch.
avocados were devoured by our newest little eater today.
he basically asked me to get him a chip so he could
scoop it up into his mouth more easily.
making heart-shaped pretzels
patiently waiting for her turn to baste them with the egg whites.
we got two delicious valentine packages in the mail today.
both contained books.
how lovely.
his pensive pose.
you would think that staying home all day every day would provide so much quiet and peace and simplifying of life.
but in reality (for me, anyway),
it hasn't... yet, that is.
i would like to make simplifying an intentional part of each and every day. being home this much has just multiplied the list of things that i would like to
tackle, organize, clean, research, consider, do.
but to just be... that is hard.
my goal for the rest of hibernation is to just be.
just to be in the moment
(this is especially something that i struggle with).
to let those endless things (that is just what they are... things)
fly off and out of my head and not
feel burdened or twisted-up or entangled by them.
i desire to slow down (even though i'm not going anywhere).
to simply do what i must do.
to somehow uncomplicate life.
to reveal to my children what this life is all about.
to inspire them to grow closer to God
as I grow closer to Him as well.
to be changed.
especially that Lent is right around the corner
(which i only just discovered tonight).
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a
great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything
that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles,
and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
